Julia Jenaé blends a broadcast career covering stories across the country with legal and investigative expertise. Based in Atlanta, Georgia, the EMMY award-winning journalist most recently served as an anchor and legal correspondent for Court TV.
She has covered historic trials from the courtroom including that of disgraced media mogul Harvey Weinstein, singer R. Kelly’s sex trafficking trial, the Parkland school shooter's sentencing and the 2021 trials in the murders of George Floyd and Ahmaud Arbery. She was the first reporter to interview the Arbery family as a group, including his father, aunts and uncles.
Before joining Court TV, she was an investigative reporter for the ABC affiliate in Jacksonville, Florida. There she covered former Congresswoman Corrine Brown's fraud trial and transfer to federal prison. During several hurricane seasons on the First Coast, she shared stories of the hardest hit, getting answers and results for those struggling with power outages and dangerous flooding.
While on the investigative team at ABC affiliate KLTV in East Texas, her reporting on a county judge prompted a state investigation and earned her an EMMY, while a separate investigation into diverted child-support payments was recognized by a Gavel Award from the State Bar of Texas.
Several of Julia’s reports prompted state investigations, policy changes, company apologies and reimbursement of taxpayer money.
Born and raised in Decatur, Georgia, Julia graduated from Mercer University with a bachelor's in journalism and Spanish. Her role as a section editor for the campus paper sparked her initial desire to inform. She later obtained her Juris Doctor and was admitted to the bar in Georgia and Florida. As a lawyer, Julia handled civil litigation, wrongful death and personal injury cases before pursuing her passion for helping people through journalism.
When not on-air, she enjoys stargazing, spending time with family preferably on a beach, and trying to get her plants to grow. 'Count it all joy' is her life mantra. Her recurring indulgence? Binging episodes of a Law & Order, Different World or anything Star Wars.
